I'm a illustrator/designer and a maker based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
I feel I'm a mix of different creatives in one, I can't pick one favourite over another I just enjoy them all. I design and illustrate at work all day but once I've left I also like to create a wide range of products using various crafts I've gathered along the way and I also love to keep my hand in with photography.
I originally trained at KIAD in Canterbury, Kent for 2 years specialising in Fine Art. I went on to train in printed textiles and surface pattern and graduated from UEL with a BA Hons degree in 2000.
I have also been involved in various small bespoke projects ranging from wedding stationary, CD artwork and one-off pieces of commissioned artworks.
Working across a diverse range of products and experimenting with many medias. Digital, fabric & stitch, collage, pencil and paint I have a good commercial awareness, understanding of design and colour aswell as a quirky style for something more unique.
I've been crafting ever since I can remember. I have fond memories of my mum and my grandmothers teaching me various skills from a young age. It's these skills which I now constantly call upon. I try and use a mix of new and carefully chosen old materials and embellishments, its great to recycle say a used piece of clothing and lots of lovely embellishments and turning them into a beautiful and new gift, giving them a new lease of life.
Going freelance after the big studio I worked in relocated to Wales has given me the chance to use all my knowledge and skills I've built up, to try new things and experiment and push the boundaries of my work.
A year ago as a project I spent the initial year, making products for bunting & bows and working hard developing the name and products, along with that the packaging and visual advertising.
I have continued to work on my own with my making side of my business it works in better with my freelance design work and gives me the time and opportunity to explore new things.
I am now working with several design agencies freelancing and also with a Christmas company developing theur standard ranges.
I have several products exhibited in the 'From the Wilde' gallery/shop.
