Springs here!!

Well the snowdrops are here I expect you've all spotted some by now. Springtime....yippeee.
I noticed one lonely one poking it's head through last weekend. The weather wasn't great this weekend either to get any good shots what with the snow but here's a couple of snaps. Luckily for us....at the moment it's not settling but apparently we're in for some more.

We also popped to this fabulous shop in Walkern, Hertfordshire that I've been eyeing up for a while when we were out and about yesterday called Jolie. I could have spent hours in there exploring all the lovely wools and books oh and lots of little gifty items that would make great presents or things for your home. They were very friendly and chatty and their blog is here. They even run little workshops two mornings a week. How great is that!
I did get a lovely little notebook set for my friends birthday this week and I also treated myself to a book while I was there that I have been eyeing up on Amazon for sometime.
Now thats spring's on it's way I thought this would be great to get my hands on and experiment with lots of pretty little flowers for spring and summertime.
Find Lesley Stanfields book here on Amazon along with several other books she has written.
These just look good enough to eat, here they are brightening up a shopping bag.

Just love all these pretty little flower bunches and the lavender is divine. Hoping I can get my needles out soon enough to have a play.

Funky Foliage

I was just rummaging through my photos looking for something and I came across these. I've always liked them they're rather architectural and sculptural plants. It was a day out in London think it was this time last year, a walk along the Thames. I'm sure I had them in black and white somewhere too....

Lacey stripes and swirls

Actual printed mock up

On screen version

I've been working on these two designs which I think sit well together, I really like the soft pinks, blues and browns together. It gives it a vintagey feel but with a contemporary twist.

Funky Florals

What do you think of my wrap designs? I think they may look good on bedding too with some work doing to them. Watch this space for some ideas for that. I did the purple background first then thought they would have more of a contrast on white. Now I like both of them but for different reasons.

New Books!!!

I had two new books arrive yesterday from Amazon and haven't had time to look at them properly yet but I thought I'd share a few snaps with you.

This one is by the fabulous Poppy Treffry. I just love the attention to detail in the book. I'm sure it will bring me lots of ideas and inspiration. Find her website here.  You can also follow her on twitter and Facebook.

The other one is by Kata Golda find her website here and her blog here. Can't wait to have a proper look through it and take inspiration.

Decisions Decisions

Well that news was a bit of a shock. Heard this morning I'm being made redundant at the end of June along with the rest of our studio. So if anyone has any design jobs going or any freelance work please feel free to contact me.
Atleast being the end of June it gives me a little while to sort myself out and decide what to do. Decisions, decisions.
It could well be the start of something exciting so lots to look forward to.I'm sensing 2010 is going to be the year!!

Photo from a Happy customer

Always great to get some feedback from customers. I had one send me a photo the other day of the bunting I made for her daughter up in her room. Thanks Christine....Here it is :)

I also made her son a wash bag featured in an earlier post.

"Joseph was very pleased with his wash bag and uses it to put his 'special secret things' in!!"

The weekend

ok so I got a bit cheesy

Just a couple of piccies from the weekend, seen as I have managed to get lots done tonight, feeling rather productive bunting 90% finished and now 3 blog posts!! very pleased.
Well I had rather a relaxed weekend this weekend and I hope you all had good ones too, wasn't sure what the weather was really going to do and the snow didn't quite turn up like we originally thought it would. But there was still enough for us to go sledging Saturday afternoon and take a few walks in the snow with the dogs. Here's the aftermath of the sledging I had a ball but did get a few facefuls of snow so got pretty wet but all in good fun :) ok so I got a bit cheesy

Bunting for Frances

Here's what I've been working away at tonight. I had an order come in for some personalised bunting for my old friend Frances, a present for her niece I think she said. I managed to get the biggest part of the job done tonight just the pretty buttons and maybe a bell or two to sew on tomorrow night...oh and ofcourse the sewing in ends!!
